The drama unfortunately continues with Dolly Parton’s Estate.
The country icon sadly passed away at 80-years-old in Nashville Tennessee. Dolly had been dealing with undisclosed health issues for the last year or so, and she previously shared that she was having issues with severe kidney stones. Dolly’s reps confirmed she sadly died following a “brief battle with cancer,” though the specific kind was not revealed.
Since then, there’s been quite a bit of drama with her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who was her former head of security and is now in a legal dispute with her estate. Seaver worked for Dolly as her head of security and was in charge of protecting her estate and her properties following her death.
Just a few weeks after Dolly passed away, the company overseeing her estate fired Seaver and his security company from protecting her property, and filed a lawsuit accusing Seaver of “engaging in a campaign of threats” against the estate.
Seaver has denied the allegations, and claims that messages cited as “threats” are being taken out of context. There’s a whole lot to it, you can read more about it HERE,
But it sounds like there’s been some more drama with Bryan’s sister, Rebecca Seaver, as well, which has only continued as of this past week. On Friday, it was reported that Rebecca Seaver had been fired from her position overseeing Dolly’s archives and her new Life of Many Colors museum, which opened in Nashville shortly after the country legend’s death.
Rebecca Seaver’s mother is Dolly’s younger sister Cassie, and she’s spent years preserving Dolly’s wardrobe, photos, and other personal belongings, and was even responsible for locating her aunt’s original wedding dress years after the country legend thought it was lost forever.
In Touch previously reported that just a little over a month before Dolly’s passing, on the morning of July 13th, police were called to Dolly’s home to investigate a domestic violence dispute. Dolly’s home was in Brentwood, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, and Officer Peter Spain responded to investigate a report of assault, according to the report they obtained.
Dolly and Rebecca were very close, and Rebecca seemed to be a very important part of the whole Dolly Parton operation:
Rebecca has not released a statement yet on the matter, hopefully we’ll get to hear directly from her at some point, but her brother, the aforementioned Bryan Seaver, wasted no time in sharing his support for his sister.
In a post on Facebook, Bryan took time to acknowledged both Rebecca, and his cousin, Danielle, who he calls his “closest family and my buddy.” Interestingly, Danielle Parton was recently named the official Brand Ambassador of the Dolly Parton estate, and she is the daughter of Dolly’s older brother, Bobby, and she is a a commercial airline pilot, military veteran and entrepreneur as well.
Bryan says that “both of these women are dynamos in their fields,” adding that ” there is no feud between us” and he loves them both “with all my heart.”
I think it’s great that, even though the Seaver siblings and Danielle are in very different standing with the Estate, they are containing to support each other and keep the family together, which is what’s most important during all this drama:
“I am very proud of my sister Rebecca Seaver and her endeavors building Dolly’s archive and museum, and my cousin Danielle Parton is my closest family and my buddy. We are nearest in age and have always been pals.
I have always and will forever sing her praises and support her as she goes about her journey and career. Both of these women are dynamos in their fields and there is no feud between us. I love them both with all my heart.”
He shared the statement with a photo of the family, and it’s just so sad that the Estate continues to be at odds with some of the Parton family, especially Rebecca who seemed to be very close with her aunt and helped preserve her incredible legacy in a huge way.
The Parton family and the Estate continue to battle it out, but it looks like, at least publicly, the family is sticking together, and I think at least that aspect of this crap show would make Dolly proud.
Stay tuned… this whole thing is unfortunately far from over.
