I think everyone should just keep their feet in their own designated area on the plane…
You would think that’s just basic common sense and courtesy, but apparently not, because country music artist and online personality Jessie James Decker has sparked debate online following quite an interesting situation on a recent flight.
Decker broke into the music industry in 2009 with self-titled debut album Jessie James, and later gained even more popularity while starring on the E! reality series “Eric & Jessie: Game On,” alongside her husband, former NFL wide receiver Eric Decker.
She also has a successful fashion brand Kittenish, and continues to be a social media personality as well, which makes me wonder if this whole thing is a bit for attention online, though it brings up an interesting discussion on airplane etiquette nonetheless.
Jessie shared a video on her social media accounts from a recent flight, where a passenger behind her had their bare feet up on her arm rest between her seat and the window, and apparently they hadn’t done a great job washing them because she pointed out that they didn’t smell too great:
“Someone’s foot smells so bad on the plane.”
She wanted feedback from people in her comments section too, asking what they would have done in that position:
“Before you come at me… what would you have done?”
You can watch the video here… it’s really gross:
Of course, tons of people weighed in, and one fan questioned whether or not it was a staged thing for online views, saying they thought it was her husband’s foot:
“Yeah right! That was her husbands foot. There’s no way she does that to a random stranger.”
Jessie responded, saying her husband’s feet look really rough from his NFL days, implying that it wasn’t him:
“Have you seen Eric’s feet? Toeeeee UP.”
Tons of people weighed in, and the comments section was pretty much united in the fact that this person deserved a lot worse, and she was absolutely right for spraying them:
“If they’re comfortable enough to put their dusty feet on my armrest, then well, I’m a spray it too.”
“If someone had their foot in my personal space like that, they would get it back bleeding.”
“Immediately no. They need to go to jail.”
“Put on some gloves and paint some nails. Pedicure anyone!!.”
“I see no wrong doing (on your part) cause he 100000000% deserved that spray.”
“Girl I pray this is your husbands foot.”
“I would’ve done the same thing.”
“Pretend sneeze on it”
“What would I have done? The same thing you did…”
“Oh hell nah, that should be illegal.”
“First off that’s etiquette we learned in kindergarten. Shame on their parents! I would have done the same thing.”
“Yeah I would have done the same! That’s nasty.”
“Murdered him! You were kind!”
Yeah, I think it’s straight to jail if you ask me, whether it’s her husband or not…
Aside from the fact that it’s disgusting for a random stranger to prop their foot up on your arm rest, especially their disgusting bare foot, it’s simply rude to invade someone’s personal space like that with even a purse or something else while on a plane… there’s very limited space as it is, so keep all of your belongings, including your appendages, to yourself.
And I agree with many of the commenters… they deserved much worse, and a simple spray was the least she could do to get her arm rest back and that nasty foot out of her way.
Hopefully, she had a wet wipe to sanitize the are down after that because I certainly wouldn’t want to be leaning up on all of that…
