More drama surrounding Dolly’s estate?
During her life, country music legend Dolly Parton always kept her large extended family close – and even employed many of them in her own business ventures. But since her death back on August 25 at the age of 81, there’s been plenty of drama surrounding her estate and the family that she had working for her.
Obviously much of the drama centers around her nephew, Bryan Seaver, who worked for Dolly as her head of security and was in charge of protecting her estate and her properties following her death.
Just a few weeks after Dolly passed away, the company overseeing her estate fired Seaver and his security company from protecting her property, and filed a lawsuit accusing Seaver of “engaging in a campaign of threats” against the estate.
Obviously Seaver has denied the allegations, and claims that messages cited as “threats” are being taken out of context.
But now, it seems that Seaver’s sister has also been caught up in the drama between Dolly’s family and the company handling her estate.
On Friday, it was reported that Rebecca Seaver has been fired from her position overseeing Dolly’s archives and her new Life of Many Colors museum, which opened in Nashville shortly after the country legend’s death.
Rebecca Seaver’s mother is Dolly’s younger sister Cassie, and she’s spent years preserving Dolly’s wardrobe, photos, and other personal belongings, and was even responsible for locating her aunt’s original wedding dress years after the country legend thought it was lost forever.
No reason was given for Seaver’s termination, but after it was announced that she had been let go Bryan Seaver took to social media to support his sister:
“I am very proud of my sister Rebecca Seaver and her endeavors building Dolly’s archive and museum, and my cousin Danielle Parton is my closest family and my buddy. We are nearest in age and have always been pals. I have always and will forever sing her praises and support her as she goes about her journey and career. Both of these women are dynamos in their fields and there is no feud between us. I love them both with all my heart.”
Rebecca Seaver was also reportedly involved in a domestic dispute that resulted in police being called to Dolly’s house just a month or so before she passed away.
In Touch reports that on the morning of July 13th, police were called to her Dolly’s to investigate a domestic violence dispute. Dolly’s home was in Brentwood, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville, and Officer Peter Spain responded to investigate a report of assault, according to the police report.
Keegan Seaver, Rebecca’s nephew (it’s unclear if he is Bryan’s son or not) claimed that his aunt Rebecca had “struck him with her open hands” following a “verbal confrontation”:
“Had struck him with her open hands about his body several times which stemmed from a verbal confrontation he had with Ms. Seaver’s coworker, Ms. Andrea Abernathy, earlier in the day.”
Keegan, who is 21, was not injured, and Rebecca who is 40, admitted that there was a confrontation, according to Officer Spain:
“Admitted that she did confront her nephew regarding his behavior towards Ms. Abernathy. She claimed she made no physical contact with him other than when he placed his hand in her face in an attempt to provoke her, so she lightly smacked his hand out of her face.”
Ultimately, nothing further came from it, and in Officer Spain’s report, he stated that there wasn’t enough evidence to “determine a primary aggressor,” and he advised them to separate and consult with their employer to solve the solution:
“Due to the lack of evidence and contradicting statements from both parties, I didn’t believe there was sufficient evidence to determine a primary aggressor or that an assault even occurred. I advised both parties to separate and to consult with their supervisors/employers to help create a solution to keep this situation from escalating.”
Such a shame that all this drama is coming out after Dolly passed away. You’ve got to think she wouldn’t be happy to see what’s happening to her family…
