The next era of the Dutton family saga is upon is.
Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly are officially reprising their roles as Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton in the sequel series Dutton Ranch, and unlike the CBS procedural Kayce Dutton spinoff, Marshals, Dutton Ranch feels like it has the potential to be a true “sequel” to the Yellowstone story. Even the director has described the new show as “Yellowstone Season 6,” which should bode well for fans of the flagship series… those same fans who have been less than thrilled with Marshals.
Dutton Ranch was originally supposed to air in late 2025 and was eventually pushed back to an “Early 2026” release, but even that wasn’t looking promising as the months rolled on. But then, thanks to an update from the official Dutton Ranch social media, we’ve got both the premiere date, a teaser trailer, and an official synopsis for the series:
“Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton gamble everything on a new life in South Texas, but the promise of building a future far from the ghosts of Yellowstone quickly collides with brutal new realities and a rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire.”
Set to premiere on May 15th on Paramount+, Dutton Ranch will feature Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler, as well as Finn Little, who is returning to play his character Carter in the series. As for the rest of the cast, A-list actress Annette Bening will be joining the Yellowstone universe, and she’ll be playing a powerful owner of a major Texas ranch named Beulah Jackson. There will also be the addition of Jai Courtney, an Australian actor (known for his roles in The Suicide Squad and The Terminal List) that will be playing an “unpredictable ranch foreman” whose name is “Rob-Will.” Country singer Morgan Wade will also play a role in the new spinoff.
And from the brand new trailer, it looks like Dutton Ranch is going to bring more of the same tension that we saw in Yellowstone. Granted, Beth and Rip are in Texas, and perhaps looking for a quieter life to settle down, but that doesn’t mean that big money and powerful people won’t stand in their way.

COME ON WITH IT.
The official trailer looks like Dutton Ranch is going to be a whole lot of fun. The intensity appears to be dialed up to the max, the violence gives big-time Yellowstone vibes, and the performances from Hauser and Reilly could be award worthy.
More Violent Than Yellowstone?
Expect some character growth when Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler return to our television screens, but according to producer David Glasser, you can expect more violence. Glasser recently spoke at the premiere of Marshals: another Yellowstone spinoff focused on Luke Grimes that’s set to air on CBS, however, the first couple of questions he fielded were about the Kacey Dutton series that will premiere it’s first episode this weekend.
After he got through those, Entertainment Tonight asked about the Dutton Ranch, and Glasser explained that he had just let the set earlier that day to attend the premiere:
“That’s in the works right now. I just left set in Texas, and flew here today. So that’s deep in the weeds right now. But it’s gonna be exciting. Same kind of thing (with Marshals). It’s a way to explore the characters, but also mature the characters. That’s the nice thing. We all want to be with them on the ride, but we also want to see them grow.
(Dutton Ranch is) a lot of fun. These shows for us are always a lot of dead bodies, a lot of people getting shot, a lot of crazy stuff happening. Just when you think we can’t turn it up a notch, we do.”
So it sounds like the violence will once again be finding Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as well. The producer went on to say that fans should be very excited for the return of Yellowstone, and that Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly very comfortably stepped back into the roles that made them so beloved on the flagship series:
“(Cole and Kelly) don’t skip a beat, and it was incredible. They’re all… like the partnership we have with Luke, with them, they were all in. And in the creative and everything in the weeds. It’s a lot of fun, so get ready. It’s gonna be an exciting year for ‘Yellowstone.'”
It’s definitely an exciting time for Yellowstone fans… May 15th can’t get here soon enough.
