A year for the ages for Miss Langley.
If you think it’s been hard to keep up with all the headlines surrounding Ella Langley and her generational run over the past year, I wouldn’t even blame you at this point. After riding the highs of 2024’s Riley Green collaboration, “you look like you love me” all the way into the end of 2025, the Alabama native dropped what can only be described as a cultural phenomenon at this point with “Choosin’ Texas.”
As it stands today, “Choosin’ Texas” is the longest-running #1 hit by a female country artist on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, the only country song by a woman to triple up and go #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, Hot Country and Country Airplay chart simultaneously and now the fourth-longest-running hit in U.S. HISTORY.
In case that wasn’t enough, thanks to the success of her sophomore album, Dandelion, which debuted at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and sold 169,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in its first week, Langley became just the second woman in history to hold the #1 album and song in the U.S. simultaneously with a country song/album. Of course, Taylor Swift was the first, going #1 with Red (Taylor’s Version) and “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” back in 2021.
She’d make even more history back on May 18th when “Choosin’ Texas” spent its 10th week at #1 on the Hot 100 and “Be Her” held strong at #2 for a second straight week. In turn, she became the first country artist in history to hold the Top 2 songs in the United States simultaneously for more than one week. This broke her out a tie with Morgan Wallen, who became the first country artist to do so upon the release of I’m The Problem last May, when he owned the top three songs with “What I Want,” “Just in Case” and “I’m the Problem.”
In the weeks following, it managed to gain sole possession of the longest-leading chart-topper on the Hot 100 recorded by a woman in country music. Additionally, “Choosin’ Texas” became just the 25th song in the Hot 100’s 68-year history to stay at #1 for a dozen weeks or more, and Langley became the first woman in history to score three of the Top 4 hits on the Hot 100 in a single week with country songs (and just the ninth artist in history to do so in any genre).
The last two weeks have been particularly historic for Langley and the smash hit. With “Choosin’ Texas” spending its 15th and 16th weeks at #1, it became the longest-running #1 hit by a female artist this CENTURY. In case that wasn’t enough, she helped the genre make history when only country songs made up the Top 5 on the Hot 100 last week, including the likes of Morgan Wallen’s brand-new single, “Been By Now,” Taylor Swift’s return to country music, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from Toy Story 5, Langley and Wallen’s collaboration, “I Can’t Love You Anymore” and Stella Lefty’s controversial viral hit, “Boston.”
This week, Choosin’ Texas” remained at #1 for its 17th frame, garnering 24.9 million official streams, 54.5 million airplays on radio and 9,000 units sold. In turn, Langley officially owns the fourth-longest-running #1 hit in U.S. HISTORY, only behind the likes of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (22 weeks), Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (19 weeks) and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” (19 weeks).
In case that wasn’t enough, Langley has now spent more weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 in 2026 than all other artists COMBINED, according to Talk of the Charts on X (formerly Twitter).
Langley continues to dominate other Billboard charts as well. This week, the hit song also topped Songs of the Summer (10th week), Digital Song Sales (14th week), Streaming Songs (17th week) and Hot Country Songs (35th week), which is now good for the third-longest in its history. Now, she and the smash hit are only behind Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant To Be” (50 weeks) and Shaboozey’s aforementioned “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (45 weeks).
Additionally, with “Choosin’ Texas” standing its ground at #1 on the Hot 100 and her collaboration with Morgan Wallen, “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” rising to #1 this week on Country Airplay, Langley becomes just the third artist (and first woman) to top the two charts simultaneously with two different tracks. Here, she joins only Wallen (“What I Want” and “I’m The Problem”) and Lonestar (“Amazed” and “Smile”) as the only artists to capture this feat.
With “Choosin’ Texas” projected to score its 18th frame at #1 next week by over 100 points, it’s looking very likely that she will be able to tie (and potentially pass) Shaboozey for the longest-running country hit on the chart by the end of the month. Simply put, it’s on track to become the biggest country song in history incredibly soon.
