Didn’t expect a law firm to have me emotional today.
It’s been nearly 3 months since we lost two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch, who passed away on May 21 following a battle with pneumonia that eventually progressed into sepsis.
Busch’s #8 car for Richard Childress Racing was renumbered to the #33 and has been driven by Austin Hill since his death. And throughout the summer there have been plenty of tributes to the late NASCAR legend, from his #8 painted in the infield of each to fans holding up 8 fingers on lap 8 to the winning driver doing Busch’s signature bow after taking the checkered flag.
This tribute, though, might be one of my favorites.
Morgan & Morgan, the nationwide personal injury law firm, has been a sponsor with RCR since 2023 and does a great job of incorporating the partnership into their advertising, including billboards and commercials featuring Busch.
Well this weekend, Morgan & Morgan is back on the #33 car for the Cup Series race at Richmond Raceway, and they just unveiled a paint scheme paying tribute to the NASCAR legend.
The hood of the car will feature an image of Busch doing his signature bow, along with his actual signature and the logo for Busch and his wife Samantha’s Bundle of Joy Fund.
The paint scheme immediately became a fan favorite, with many expressing how emotional it was to see Busch’s car running a tribute to the late driver:
“Even after 2.5 months, gestures like this from his sponsors still hit me like a ton of bricks.”
“It’s not even noon on a Monday and I’m crying at work”
“Ahhhhhhhhhh you got me in tears again!! This is up there as one of the best tributes to Kyle”
Morgan & Morgan has also honored Busch in their (many, many) billboards posted all across the country:
You love to see it. Well done Morgan & Morgan.
Of course the law firm isn’t alone in continuing to pay tribute to Busch. During this past weekend’s race at Iowa Speedway, his fellow NASCAR Cup Series driver Ryan Blaney had a special helmet honoring Busch that featured many of his iconic paint schemes, including his M&Ms car and a photo of his first Cup Series win in the Kellog’s #5 car for Hendrick Motorsports.
Blaney said that after the race, he planned to give the helmet to Busch’s son Brexton, who is a racer himself:
“I think helmets are a unique thing in our sport. We kind of get to design them. A lot of them have special meaning and this is kind of my best way of showing my respect towards Kyle Busch and respect to the Busch family. And the helmet was, I picked out, I think there’s about seven or eight pictures of some wins of his, some big wins … and each part of the helmet is that scheme that he ran on the car, that’s kind of how it’s broken up. So my painter did a good job of kind of getting pretty imaginative on it.
But yeah, I hope to run it for one race and give it to Brexton, the Busch family, and they can do whatever they want with it. So just showing respect and, you know, I’m glad people noticed it.”
Pure class from the NASCAR community.
