Is Zach Bryan already pushing the breakup songs?

Suppose you have been even slightly plugged into country music or pop culture happenings over the last past week. In that case, odds are you have scrolled past a new article, TikTok, or other social media post regarding the split between Zach Bryan and his Barstool Sports girlfriend, Brianna Chickenfry.

Last week, the couple publicly announced their split, although according to Chickenfry’s post, it seems that publicizing their split was not the plan. Zach was on the celebrity dating app Raya, and videos circulated of his profile on social media before the breakup was officially announced.

While in most other cases, that could easily be a fake account, on Raya, you have to be verified and generally have to be referred by someone to get an account in the first place. On top of that, your profile is also directly linked to your Instagram profile to further verify your identity, so it’s pretty incriminating that he made the profile himself right after the split.

Once news broke, Zach Bryan took to his Instagram story to confirm the couple had parted ways. This spurred Brianna Chickenfry to respond with a five-minute video, sharing with fans how “blindsided” she felt when he made a public statement.

“But, um yeah, I’m probably not gonna post this for a little while, but I just woke up to Zach posting on his Instagram that we broke up, and I had no idea that post was going up. He didn’t text me, he didn’t call me, I just woke up to a bunch of texts like ‘Are you okay?’ and I’m like, did my f*****n’ dad die? And yeah, so I’m like completely blindsided by that.

While Brianna told fans in her video that she would take some time away from social media to heal and process the breakup, Zach Bryan headed to the songbook, sharing a breakup song on Instagram a day after the breakup went public. While fans thought this was a distasteful move, no one knows if he wrote it right after the breakup. Regardless, the lyrics of that tune seemed as though he was reminding fans of the fond memories he and Brianna shared during their relationship.

“Recall when we, went to Rockaway Beach, summer heat in eastern Queens, and a subway ride.”

It appears the songs illuding to their split will not slow down as late last night. Zach Bryan shared another song titled “All Good Things Past.” Hmmm, it seems like a direct correlation to the recent split, no?

Filmed in a barn, ZB is posted up on a bench with his acoustic guitar. Across from him, he has a group of wind and brass instruments, creating a soulful sound. If ZB had released this song at any other time, I’m not sure people would connect it to a relationship ending, but given the timing and the first line of the track, it seems pretty pointed it’s about his emotions surrounding the split. It also feel a little nostalgic,

All good things past
And your boy got himself into some trouble again
But all my friends are bound to share in this denial
And the comin’ of the Lord couldn’t keep me from
A down-south, comeback smile
That Oklahoman, popsicle frozen, empties on a burn pile”

Zach Bryan has turned off the comments on the post because I am sure she does not want them filling up with hate that he’s writing about what’s happening in his life. But let’s face it: most songs surround real-life events; ZB posts his thoughts and emotions through songs in real-time instead of sitting on them for a while, as other artists do. I’m interested to see if we get this on streaming platforms soon or if these video clips are just a current stream of consciousness that will never see the light of day beyond this.
