A breakup song, perhaps?
Of course, I think most of have seen the news by now about Zach and Barstool Sports personality Brianna Chickenfry, as they both announced their very public breakup yesterday.
Pretty much immediately, Zach was on the celebrity dating app Raya, and videos circulated of his profile on TikTok before the breakup was officially announced. While in most other cases that could easily be a fake account, on Raya, you have to be verified and generally have to be referred by someone to get an account in the first place.
Following everything going public, Brianna shared a tearful, almost five-minute video saying she was “blindsided” by the fact that he shared the news online for all to see just a day after the breakup, and eventually, she would talk about everything and give more information.
And late last night, Zach took to Instagram (his Twitter/X is still deactivated), to tease a new song that feels like it could be some sort of breakup tune.
The lyrics talk about time spent at Rockaway Beach (in Queens), and all around New York City, and while normally it would sound like any other Zach Bryan song, the timing is a little too suspicious to not feel like some sort of response or statement in some way about the breakup:
“Recall when we, went to Rockaway Beach, summer heat in eastern Queens, and a subway ride.”
There’s a line about “umbrellas over brunette hair,” and normally I don’t think anyone would reach too much into that, but obviously, it points to his current situation with Brianna and I can’t help but think it has something to do with their very public breakup.
Obviously, it could’ve been written a while ago, or maybe he wrote it yesterday, who knows, but posting the video of it at the end of that wild media day was certainly a choice.
Listen to it here and see what you think:
