The cover we absolutely needed.

At Stagecoach this weekend, superstar Post Malone took the stage for a lengthy set of exclusively 90’s and 2000’s country covers, bringing out surprise guests like Brad Paisley, Sara Evans and Dwight Yoakam.

But of course, you can never go wrong with The King, and Texas native Posty gave the fans a great solo rendition of George Strait’s “Check Yes Or No” as part of his performance that I can’t get enough of.

The song was written by Danny Wells and Dana Hunt Black, and recorded by Strait and released as the lead single from his 1995 box set, Strait Out of the Box. Of course, it peaked at #1 on the U.S. Billboard country chart. “Check Yes Or No” remains a fan-favorite to this day, has been certified 3X Platinum in the U.S.

Post stayed true to the original song and sounded great, and he has such a unique and distinctive voice that also stands out and makes it his own in a way, too.

Honestly, I could stand to see him cover a whole album’s worth of George Strait songs. This is the country Post Malone I was hoping for:

Posty also joined Morgan Wallen on stage during his headlining set on Sunday night to debut their new duet “I Had Some Help,” which is already a fan-favorite and will likely be coming out very soon:
