This is, quite literally, my dream team.

Down at the Luck Reunion in Luck, Texas last Thursday, Lukas Nelson joined Tyler Childers inside the chapel nestled in Willie’s little Western town on his ranch, where the festival is held every year, to sing “Old Country Church.”

During Lukas’ set in the tiny venue, which holds right around 50 people, Tyler showed up and they created some musical magic together.

Of course, the old hymn has become a staple of Tyler’s live shows for quite some time now (and churches across America for decades), so much so that he included three different renditions of Hank Williams’ gospel classic (written by J.W. Vaughan in 1934) on his 2022 Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? album.

It sounds like a total dream to see either one of these incredibly talented artists in such a small place, but together with just two simple acoustic guitars… that’s just otherworldly.

Obviously, it’s a fitting venue too, and I can’t get enough of this. I really hope they’ll team up in a more official capacity sometime down the road. Can you even imagine what a collab on an original song from them would be like?

Like I said, a dream…

Do yourself a favor and check it out:

Lukas also covered Pearl Jam’s “Just Breathe” for the small crowd, which he previously sang as a duet with his dad Willie Nelson on his 2012 Heroes album:
