Nature videos can be pretty brutal, but this one may just take the cake…

Gatlinburg is high on most people’s travel bucket list and for good reason. Gorgeous mountains, great fishing, awesome cabin rentals, and more wildlife that you can imagine, especially if, like me, you spend most of your days inside these little cubes we call buildings.

While there’s no shortage of animals species you may see in the Tennessee mountains, the one that everyone hopes to catch a glimpse or two of are the black bears.

Around 1,500 black bears call the Smoky Mountains home which means the odds of stumbling into one are pretty high. For the most part, they’re harmless if you keep your distance and most visitors will see them rummaging through dumpsters or raiding picnics, but this group of tourists a few years back got to see one at its most vicious.

While driving through Great Smoky Mountains National Park, multiple groups of tourists were treated to an up close and personal experience of the not-so cute and curious side of black bears when one hunted down a wild boar on the side of the road.

According to the Charlotte Observer, one of the people who saw was an avid hunter named Phillip Talbot and he can be heard in the video telling people to stay in their cars while acknowledging the awesomely gruesome scene playing out before their eyes.

This is unbelievable. This is crazy. Man, he’s got blood all in his mouth… he about got his whole neck bit off.”

Nature is a constant balance of life and death, and in this case, it was the bear that took one to maintain its own.
