Megan Moroney Partakes In Australian Tradition, Crushes Her First “Shoey” On Stage

This just made even more men fall in love with Megan Moroney.

The emo cowgirl is in the land Down Under for the CMC Rocks festival. Country artists from the U.S. of A. headed down to Queensland to share a little boot-stompin’ music with the Aussies. Megan Moroney took to the stage and partook in a drinking tradition rooted in Australia… the shoey.

During her set, Moroney swung her guitar behind her back, grabbed a fan’s boot, and then proceeded to drink out of it. While I personally think shoeys are nasty (I mean, foot beer is really what it is), the crowd went wild as she put the boot to her lips.

Moroney struggles a little bit at the beginning of the shoey (like I said, foot beer… I can’t blame her) and takes a beat as she finishes the drink. Afterward, she gracefully poses to the crowd, and they continue to cheer wildly. While Moroney recently posted that she has a new love interest, I am sure that this video circulating on social media will spike her male followers.

She’s not just an emo cowgirl, she’s a tough cowgirl. Those Georgia girls are built different.

Megan Moroney To Release “28th Of June”

Megan Moroney announced that the already fan-favorite song “28th of June” will be out on streaming platforms everywhere next Friday:

“’28th of June’ out next Friday 3/22.”

It’s a beautifully sad breakup song where the date (and title) signifies an old anniversary, though she and the guy are no longer together. Meg recalls how last summer she and her ex spent the evening exchanging cards and having a romantic night with “rose petals on the bed,” and this year, it’s “just another Tuesday”:

“28th of June it was me and you
Rose petals on the bed and I love you
Written on a ‘Happy one year’ card,
Here’s to forever you have my heart

Drank a bottle of red and opened up another
Danced around the room holdin’ on to each other
Like we were never gonna let go
I was too naive to know
Just cuz something’s good don’t mean it lasts”

I love the perspective and the way this song was written, or at least the part she already shared on Instagram, and I’m sure it will make the cut when it comes time to pick songs for her sophomore album, which Meg previously noted was “almost done” with.

Here’s the demo from Instagram:

She recently put out another fantastic single in “No Caller ID,” and this (unofficially announced) record is already shaping up to be as stellar as her 2023 debut, Lucky:
