We are know hearing from Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce for the first time since the tragic Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade shooting that took place last Wednesday.

The senseless act of violence claimed the life of one person and injured 22 more, and left many in the sports world looking for answers. After investigation by law enforcement in Kansas City, two juveniles were charged with firearms violations and resisting arrest.

Many members of the Chiefs team sent out posts on social media offering thoughts and prayers the day of, and since then, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany even visited the children’s hospital to visit with some of the victims.

Travis Kelce sent out a post later in the day, saying:

“I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today. My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. KC, you mean the world to me.”

And now, we’re hearing from Kelce and his brother Jason via their popular podcast New Heights. The brothers had a pre-recorded episode set to release this upcoming Wednesday, so they thought it was only right to take a moment to put something together about the shooting.

In the recently released video, Travis Kelce first said:

“We have a pre-recorded episode for you guys coming up on Wednesday. But after the tragic events of the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, it didn’t feel right without you guys hearing from us first.”

The tone was somber as the Kelce brothers traversed the sad reality of putting a message out about the fatal shooting. Jason was clearly still shaken up by it all when he stated:

“We just wanted to say our hearts go out to all of the victims, their families, Chiefs Kingdom, and really all of Kansas City that was really there on a day to try and celebrate the community. It’s unfortunate, and deeply tragic, the events that occurred.

We also want to thank the local law enforcement that sprang into action, the first responders on the scene, and anybody that’s been willing to help those affected by this tragedy.”

They then took some time to promote the Chiefs Emergency Response fund, which is organized to help raise money for the victims, their families, violence prevention, mental health services and first responders.

The Kelce brothers made it known that they plan on doing more in the future to help give back to their community, but instructed those that want to help right now to donate to the fund. In less than a week, over $665,000 has already been raised.

To close, Travis conveyed his love for the city he plays for:

“We appreciate you. Kansas City and Chiefs Kingdom, we love you guys. We’re with you guys, and we’ll see you guys soon.”

@newheightshow Before airing our pre-taped episode on Wednesday, Jason and Travis wanted the 92%ers and Chiefs Kingdom to hear from them directly after the tragic events at the Chiefs Parade If you’d like to support #chiefskingdom ♬ original sound – New Heights
