Just a bit too small…

A woman in North Bend, Washington woke up late Wednesday night to a black bear trying to get in her house.

There are around 25,000 to 30,000 black bear throughout the Evergreen State, which clocks in as 5th most in the US. Naturally curious animals, many people have grown accustom to these guys rummaging around their yards, especially if trash is kept outside, but this particular one decided it was done with the outdoors and wanted to check out the inside of the house.

Amy Holt lives with her husband and two large dogs and is no stranger to having bears around her house, telling KOMO News:

“We live in a rural area, and encounters are a normal part of living here. It’s one of the things we enjoy most about living in North Bend.

We have had bears caught on our security cameras in the past, but they have never been a nuisance. We typically bring our bird feeders in at night to not tempt them, and we keep our garbage secured in our garage.”

Well, I guess she can’t say they’ve never been a nuisance until now, as the security camera on her back deck captured all angles of this bear trying climbing on her railing and looking in a window before attempting to wedge itself through the doggie door.

Fortunately, it was a bit to big to fit through and it eventually moved on in search of a different food source.

While Holt enjoys watching the video as much as anyone, it did make her a bit worried, especially because her two dogs didn’t react at all to the bear trying to get inside.

“The video is completely entertaining, but also makes me a little worried about waking up in bed with the bear next to me.”

I’m guessing she’ll be a bit more concerned with the black bears in her neighborhood moving forward, but man is it fun to watch these guys try to figure things out.
