Bud Light Gets Back To Its Old Ways With “Bud Light Genie” Super Bowl Ad Featuring Post Malone, Peyton Manning, & Dana White

Is Bud Light back?

After spending much of 2023 just trying to build their brand back up after the whole Dylan Mulvaney fiasco, the Anheuser-Busch brand seems to be getting back to the basics. That means bringing in spokespeople and characters that dudes will see and say “hell yeah” (made that reference out of respect for those memes going around right now).

That’s why Bud Light recently announced a partnership with popular comedian Shane Gillis, and also called in Peyton Manning to throw beer cans at people in one of their latest ads. Those two decisions have been effective, and proves that the formula to win back Bud Light consumers is pretty simple.

In Bud Light’s latest advertising effort, which will act as their Super Bowl commercial, the light beer brand is debuting a new character: The Bud Light Genie. The new, fun idea takes the beer brand back to some of their other original mascots, like the party animal Spuds MacKenzie, or the iconic Bud Knight (if they just brought back the “Dilly Dilly” campaign, I’d be fine with that).

The premise with this new one is predictable, but still entertaining. A regular group of people open up a magical bottle of Bud Light, which frees the “Bud Light Genie,” who then starts to grant them all of their wishes, leading to a wild, partying, Bud-Light-filled night.

As the caption on Bud Light’s post explains:

“Filthy rich? Done. One REALLY big bicep? Yes. An epic night out with Peyton Manning, Post Malone and Dana White? The Bud Light Genie’s here in our Super Bowl LVIII commercial to make it happen.”

Cameos from Peyton Manning, Post Malone, and Dana White (Bud Light is the official beer of the UFC now) round out the minute long ad spot, along with a startlingly realistic CGI T-Rex. It’s a chaotic and comical advertisement, and it’s Bud Light getting back to what it does best.
