The Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Bebe Rexha, Nelly, Jason Derulo… shoot even Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw… Florida Georgia Line (how great is it that this duo is no longer a thing?) made a career out of collaborating with other artists.
Carrie Underwood is not one of them.
Given we had to live through Florida Georgia Line’s ridiculous Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit, what better time than now to take a look back at one of my favorite Carrie Underwood moments.
Back in 2020, the FGL boys shared an Instagram post (one that has since been deleted for obvious reasons) teasing a new song that they wrote with Julia Michaels.
And here’s the thing… they asked Carrie to jump on the song with them… on Instagram.
“We’d really love for Carrie Underwood to hear this song, we think it would be a massive collaboration.
We’d love to send it to you, but we don’t have your email or your phone number, so we’re just gonna play a little of the song.”
Don’t have her phone number or email? Huh? That’s probably not by accident. Great pitch guys…
Anyways, as it turns out, they got a big, fat NO from Carrie Underwood.
“No, we got turned down on that one, you don’t win em all, Cody.”
Tyler told Cody Alan on CMT Hot 20 Countdown according to Nash Country Daily.
“I guess she didn’t love it as much as we did, but that’s alright. I think she said it was amazing and she’d love to, but it was right around her book tour release and so she was super busy and didn’t really have time, but who knows, who knows where it will go.
Now it’s just open game… we got turned down, we got turned down, Cody.”
Excuse me…
HAHAHAHAHAHA.
Let’s be real for a second… why the hell would Carrie Underwood ever do a song with Florida Georgia Line? I appreciate the willful ignorance and whole “shooters shoot” mentality, but c’mon already. Carrie Underwood?
Hell, why don’t you send it over to Eric Church while you’re at it? Maybe give Chris Stapleton a call and see what he’s up to. In fact, I would pay you to send a song to Sturgill Simpson just so I can hear his reaction.
You see fellas, the one thing you should probably consider before you start throwing out names like Bruno Mars and Carrie Underwood is… would they actually want to collaborate with us?
Because the answer is probably no. And now you just look stupid.
But hey… you’re not making music together anymore anyways so I guess it all worked out in the end…
And speaking of that whole Country Music Hall of Fame disgrace, the great and powerful Wheeler Walker Jr. is out here doing the Lord’s work.

Florida Georgia Line is officially NO MORE.
Headlining the Minnesota State Fair last night, the duo made their final appearance as Florida Georgia Line, and while there is always the possibility of a comeback and/or a reunion someday in the future (will definitely happen when they want to make some more money), it definitely didn’t sound like just a “break.”
Tyler Hubbard told the crowd early in the set:
“This is our last official concert as Florida Georgia Line… let’s see what we got left in the tank.”
Later on in the set, they thanked fans for giving them the last 10 years:
“What this night means to us is the closing of an incredible, incredible chapter for us, and it’s very exciting for us to look at what’s ahead… but we wanna celebrate this chapter with you guys. So tonight, can we sing this chorus one more time together?
This will be the last time BK and I get to hear you guys sing it so I wanna see how loud you can sing this one.”
Carrie Underwood Surprises Fans At Tennessee Bar, Jumps On Stage With Tom Petty Cover Band
I’m about to start a petition to get Carrie Underwood to do a rock covers album…
The Oklahoma native is actually a huge rock fan, citing bands and artists from all across the genre like Guns N’ Roses, Ozzy Osborne, and more as some of her favorites.
From all the times I’ve heard her cover a rock song of any kind, she’s crushed it, and I love hearing that side of her musical taste because she’s so damn good at it.
And this weekend, she surprised fans at a local bar near Franklin, Tennessee, when she got on stage with The Heartshakers, a Tom Petty cover band, to sing an all-time classic, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.”
Originally a duet with Stevie Nicks, it was written by Tom Petty and Mike Campbell as a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers song, but record executive Jimmy Iovine was working with Nicks at the time and arranged for her to sing on it with them.
The song was ultimately released as the first single from Nicks’ 1981 debut solo album Bella Donna, and peaked at #3 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart later that year.
The bar, Fox & Locke, as well as The Heartshakers, shared a video of the performance on Instagram, saying what an incredible night it was having Carrie surprise the crowd like that:
“Fox & Locke Last night the one and only Carrie Underwood was here and jumped on stage with The Heartshakers to rock the house with a classic!
Like we always say, you never know who will show up here. Thanks for coming by, Carrie. What an incredible Saturday night!”
I mean, can you imagine just casually sitting there hanging out with your friends at a local bar listening to Tom Petty covers, and then Carrie Underwood jumps on stage to belt one out?
