It’s a new era in New England.

After the Patriots parted ways with longtime and six-time Super Bowl winning head coach Bill Belichick, they announced that former Patriots star linebacker Jerod Mayo will be the new head coach in Foxborough.

Mayo spent eight years as a linebacker for the Patriots from 2008 to 2015, and returned to the organization back in 2019 to coach the inside linebackers. And now, he’s the head honcho.

During a press conference today featuring Mayo and Patriots owner Robert Kraft, things got kicked off in a hilarious way. While discussing Mayo’s family, Kraft found himself having a hard time pronouncing Mayo’s brother’s name.

You can hear Kraft really struggling to get Mayo’s brother’s name out, until Jerod corrects him.

That’s when Mayo hilariously says to Kraft:

“Nah it’s alright. It’s one of those black names.. I’ll help you with that.”

I have to admit, the caption to the video is incredibly misleading. For a second I genuinely thought Kraft said the above quote before watching the video, but luckily it was Mayo.

Nevertheless, it’s good to see that Mayo laughed off the mistake and was able to make a joke out of it. He obviously has a sense of humor, and now we have to find out if he can lead New England back to prominence.
