Luke Combs is a busy man.
Not only is he one of the most popular country music artists on the planet right now, he also has one of the most important jobs that anyone could ever have: Being a dad.
When he’s not cleaning up at the CMA Awards and selling out stadiums, Combs lives the not-so-simple life of a father and husband with two kids. He and his wife Nicole have two sons under the age of two, and though that alone should take up the entirety of his days, Combs is still somehow finding time to write new music.
In a recent social media post, the “Growin Up and Gettin’ Old” singer warned everyone that he was about to release a multitude of “dad songs,” and the latest one he teased looks to be a part of that “collection.” Dad bods are in right now, so why not throw some “dad songs” out there?
Combs says in the what appears to be an impromptu recording:
“What’s up guys? Luke here…on dad duty again. (I’m) back from my hunting trip, Beau is over there doing tummy time and expressing himself. Tex is taking a nap, got the baby monitor over here. Nicole’s on the treadmill.
So you all said you like dad songs, so I’ve got a whole bunch of them lined up. Wrote this one with my buddy Josh Phillips, hope you all like it.”
Luke Combs clearly has a lot of moving parts in his life, yet he somehow found the time to record a teaser for this song, which has quite the emotional chorus:
“I hope he never finds out that I didn’t hang the moon,
And that I’ve never scared a monster out of the closet in his room,
Someday between him leaving home and driving on my knee,
Maybe I’ll finally be the man he sees in me.”
Now THAT is how you put together a dad song right there…
All we can do now as fans is wait for “The Man He Sees in Me” to drop, and could it be a part of an entire album dedicated to fatherhood? He’s already tackled Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old, so it only makes sense for him to be the one to put together “Dad Life.”
He posted the video of the unreleased song onto his Instagram with the caption:
“I hope he never finds out that I didn’t hang the moon… New tune called ‘The Man He Sees in Me’ that I wrote with my buddy Josh Phillips. Hope y’all like it!”
