Judges get paid a fair amount of money, but they still don’t get paid enough to go through stuff like this.

Video of a judge in Las Vegas, Nevada is going viral on social media, and you’ll see why in just a moment.

30-year old Deobra Redden, who already has three prior felony convictions, was being sentenced for aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm when Judge Mary Kay Holthus decided to deny his request for probation.

With hindsight, that was undoubtedly the right call, because after she informed the man that he was denied probation, he approached the bench…and then jumped over it to tackle her.

The video below might be hard to watch for some, as it shows the man jumping high above the judge’s desk to get to her before launching a full-blown attack on anyone that would challenge him:

Oh my gosh…

Shortly afterwards, the district court released this statement:

“We commend the heroic acts of her (Judge Holthus) staff, law enforcement, and all others who subdued the defendant. The court remains committed to a safe and secure courthouse and courtrooms. We are reviewing all our protocols and will do whatever is necessary to protect the judiciary, the public, and our employees.”

The Las Vegas District Court made it known that Judge Holthus suffered some injuries and was continuing to be monitored, while the marshal that was in the courtroom sustained injuries that were serious enough for them to be transported to a nearby hospital.

It was a truly horrible thing, and since it appears that everyone was, for the most part, okay, the internet got busy cooking up memes about the scary event:

The full video of the wild scene is here – and you’ve gotta give props to the judge’s law clerk (who was sitting beside her) who jumped in and started throwing haymakers at the guy.
