Christmas is coming early.

Koe Wetzel is gearing up to gift fans with a trio of Christmas songs in the form of an EP that includes three Christmas standards in Elvis Presley’s “Blue Christmas,” Bing Crosby’s “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” and Charles Brown’s “Please Come Home For Christmas.”

Officially titled Koe Wetzel Presents… Wetzel’s Wonderland, all three reimagined songs will be out everywhere this Friday, December 1st.

In a new trailer shared on social media, you see Koe walk into a “lonely Texas dive bar” to see Santa sitting at the bar, as he only comes to learn that it’s not really Santa, though he won’t seem to accept that important little fact.

They go back and forth about how “Santa” delivers presents to kids all over the world every Christmas Eve, even the ones who are “ungrateful little shits,” until eventually, fake Santa has enough and punches Koe in the face, telling him:

“That’s why you’re on the naughty list.”

Obviously, these songs will be a bit of a different sound and subject matter than we’re used to hearing from the Texas rocker, but will certainly be a fun way to ring in the holiday’s with some Christmas music that will actually be fun to listen to.

Hearing him put a bit of a country twist on three Christmas songs that are beloved by so many people is really intriguing, and of course, they’re all three pretty sad songs, which I obviously love.

And in case anyone was wondering about some of the inspiration behind this little project, this might help explain it…

“Christmas music is a natural aphrodisiac.”

Koe most recently dropped his fifth studio album Hell Paso in September of last year, and he’ll be appearing on an episode of the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast to talk about all of it very soon, so make sure you keep an eye out for that, too.
