Good Luck Decorating Your House Better Than This “Home Alone” Christmas Display

@shootermcgavin

There are people that go all out with Christmas decorations, and then there are people that just sort of sprinkle Christmas stuff around the house, and there’s really no in between.

It’s safe to say that this household consists of the type of people that enjoy the holiday season, and more specifically, the Christmas class Home Alone that released in 1990.

The movie, which features Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) fighting off two home invaders (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern) with Rube-Goldberg-esque contraptions, is a staple of the holiday season. Families gather around to watch a young kid physically assault two older men every Christmas, and isn’t that what the holiday season is all about?

There are other movies that people watch as well, like Christmas Vacation, Elf, and It’s A Wonderful Life, but none have the violent charm that Home Alone (and its sequels) has. And this home perfectly captured the message of those movies.

I don’t know where they got such lifelike figures of the iconic movie’s characters. A lot of the set up looks like they created it from scratch, and props to them for doing so, because it all looks phenomenal.

Without a doubt, someone has or is going to call the police about a child being up on the roof. The same thing happened during Halloween when some incredibly realistic decorations caused someone to call the authorities for help…when it was just a really impressive, spooky display.

As you can see in the video below, the Christmas decorations feature Kevin McAllister up on the roof with his paint can trap while Harry and Marv stand below looking disgruntled (as they look for much of the movie).

The attention to detail deserves applause, especially with the household including a Michael Jordan cutout in the window. And then to cap it all off, a light up message of “Merry Christmas You Filthy Animal” hangs on the chimney, along with a framed newspaper announcing that the “Wet Bandits” has escaped.

Think you could top something like this? I know Christmas decorating isn’t a contest (despite their being a hundred different reality shows about it), but this one wins this holiday season.
