If you thought things don’t ever get chippy in NFL preseason games, you thought wrong.

Of course, you have guys who are out there fighting to make the final roster spots on the team, so you can imagine the intensity can get pretty heated in these games, as guys are literally fighting for their careers.

However, even the guys who are obvious starters for week one take it seriously too, even though they’re only out there for a handful of snaps…

And that includes current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Since the Jets are the featured team on this season of Hard Knocks, Rodgers was mic’d up for their preseason game against the New York Giants this past Saturday.

During one of the drives, Giants outside linebacker Jihad Ward wasn’t afraid to get in the face of the future Hall of Famer.

Right after Rodgers completed a pass to wide receiver Mecole Hardman in the first quarter, Ward proceeded to shove him, a hit that came pretty late after Rodgers had released the ball.

Rodgers didn’t take kindly to the late hit, and he called Ward out on it:

“What the f*ck is that?”

Ward kept coming with it, and that’s when he dropped a line that Ward simply couldn’t come back from.

Rodgers said:

“I’ve never heard of you.”

Ward then tried to claim that he didn’t know who Rodgers was either, although nobody really believes that. At that point you’ve just got to take the L, because claiming you’ve never heard of Aaron Rodgers just makes you look even worse than you already do.

Rodgers later proceeded to throw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

After the touchdown, he went to Ward and said:

“Poke the bear bro, I’ve never heard of you.”

He was then heard saying on the sidelines:

“I gave him a line that’s un-comeback-with-able. I said ‘I don’t know who you are.’ He said ‘I don’t know who you are.’ I said ‘bullsh*t.'”

Needless to say, it sounds like Rodgers isn’t playing any games now that he’s in New York.
