Denny Hamlin is NOT a big Barbie guy…
Of course, you’ve probably not been able to escape the news (their marketing budget had to have been absolutely insane) that Greta Gerwig’s new feature film is out everywhere this weekend, and has already put up some impressive numbers at the box office.
The film opened with $155 million at the domestic box office, making it easily the biggest debut of 2023:
Starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, I can’t lie and say I haven’t been looking forward to seeing the movie.
If you grew up playing with Barbie’s like I did, half the reason you’re probably excited to see it is just to see all the pink in her Dreamhouse and pretty clothes, which is mostly why I’m going to see it.
But I do know a few people that have already seen it, and the reviews are definitely mixed… but like I said, I guess it depends what you were hoping to get out of a Barbie movie.
And it sounds like NASCAR driver Mr. Denny didn’t enjoy it too much, tweeting out yesterday that it “might be the worst movie ever made,” adding that “not even Will Ferrell could save it.”
Yikes… not exactly a glowing review.
Denny does have two pretty young daughters, Taylor (10) and Molly (6), so I’m guessing that’s why he even went to the movies for it in the first place, and I would be willing to bet they enjoyed it a lot more than he did:
“Barbie might be the worst movie ever made. Not even Will Farrell could save it.”
Something to know about Denny Hamlin is that he always gonna give it to you straight, and tell you exactly what he thinks…
Maybe he should’ve went with Oppenheimer instead…
