I can’t lie, this looks absolutely incredible.

Yellowstone’s Luke Grimes (who plays Kayce Dutton on the hit Paramount series) is starring in a new Netflix rom-com called Happiness for Beginners, which luckily for all of us, is slated for release here soon on July 27th.

And yeah, it’s certainly a far cry from the Dutton Ranch, but I’m not mad about it…

It stars Luke, who will play a character named Jake, alongside Ellie Kemper who plays Helen, a divorcée looking to deal with the end of her marriage with a bit of a different approach by enrolling in a survival course in order to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to hike the Appalachian trail.

As luck would have it, she winds up in a group with Jake (Grimes), and I’m sure you can imagine how the film ultimately ends if you’ve ever watched the Hallmark channel during the month of December.

According to Netflix, the series is an adaptation of Katherine Center’s novel of the same name, and you can read the full description here:

“For some, a post-divorce reset means getting a drastic new haircut. But in Happiness for Beginners, Helen (Ellie Kemper) deals with the end of her marriage in a more creative way: by enrolling in a backcountry survival course hiking the Appalachian Trail.

Written and directed by Vicky Wight, this adaptation of Katherine Center’s novel of the same name follows Helen as she and her quirky group of fellow hikers test themselves against nature.

As it turns out, though, bear traps and blisters might be easier to deal with than the arrival of handsome newcomer Jake (Luke Grimes). Will Helen find more than mosquitoes in the wilderness?”

From the trailer that’s currently out, it certainly looks like a Hallmark-style, kinda cheesy rom-com movie, but in my opinion, those are some of the best kinds.

And while I do wish someone would’ve at least told them how to pronounce the word “Appalachian” correctly, seeing as they based the entire movie around the region, I already have this at the top of my list for movies I can’t wait to see.

I mean, what’s better than pouring a glass of wine, getting together with your girls and watching Luke Grimes in anything?

It doesn’t get much better than that…

And as someone who grew up in and around Appalachia, I can very honestly (and unfortunately) tell you that I’ve never once in my life walked by a trail guide who looks like Luke Grimes, but I more than appreciate their effort here.

Though this movie has me thinking I might need to head back up the mountain and give it another try…

And while we’re still waiting to see what the fate of Yellowstone ultimately is, Luke has also been working on his first full-fledged country album and is slated to play some of the best festivals within the country music circuit this year, including Pilgrimage Festival, Under The Big Sky Festival, Greenville Country Music Fest and quite a few more.

He has released quite a few singles this year too, including “No Horse To Ride,” “Oh Ohio,” and “Hold On” and most recently, “Playin’ On The Tracks.”

They’ve all been super solid, and I can’t wait to hear everything on his full project hopefully sometime this year.
