Nobody panic… but Randy Travis is teasing new music…

That’s right, the 64 year old from Marshville, North Carolina hit us with a teaser from the studio of some new tunes – and he could be gearing up to release his first album of fully original work since his 2008 record titled Around The Bend.

Since then he’s released a few cover projects, greatest hits type volumes, some gospel works, and he’s even dropped a couple of previously-unreleased songs since his near-fatal stroke that took his voice in 2013.

But if this little teaser is what we think it is, a new album could be right around the corner.

Few artists have been able to put out the volume and quality of music Travis has over their careers, but this moment is even bigger due to the health issues that have plagued him since his 2013. In quick succession, he suffered viral cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, and a stroke which forced him onto life support, where doctors gave him a 1% chance of surviving.

While he was able to overcome those extremely long odds, he wasn’t nearly out of the woods. An infection caused his lungs to collapse and he was hit with three bad cases of pneumonia and he underwent three tracheostomies and two brain surgeries. The illnesses and medical procedures took away his ability to walk, speak, and sing, but years of therapy have helped him regain some of his function, although he’s mostly relegated to a wheelchair at this point and retired at the onset of these medical problems.

But this situation hasn’t stopped him from participating in the country music scene that means so much to him, as he appears somewhat frequently at some shows.

Last month Lainey Wilson brought him onstage, he was spotted backstage at CMA Fest with Tim McGraw, and participated in a tribute concert which honored his contributions to country music back in November.

You may remember at a press conference for that tribute concert, Randy and his wife Mary teased us by saying he had a brand new, unreleased album from the vault ready to go, and I’m thinking this is the first stage in the roll-out of those works.

I think I speak for the entire country music fan community when I say LET’S FREAKING GO.

This is how you kick off a week, let’s make it a good one in Randy’s honor.
