Happy Monday, y’all.

Today for the Song of the Week, we have a tune from Megan Moroney called “I’m Not Pretty.”

She just released the single a little under two weeks ago, and it seems likely that it will be included on her forthcoming, debut studio album she’s been working on.

Written by Meg along with Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter and Micah Carpenter, she calls out her ex’s new girl for stalking her on Instagram and putting her down based on the small snippets of her life that are advertised there, though she’s never met her before and doesn’t really know anything about her.

While I don’t typically love songs that overly-reference social media or the petty nature that comes with it, there’s something really relatable and authentic about the way she wrote this one that I can’t get enough of:

“I bet one of his friends let my name slip again
And it sent you down a rabbit hole spinning
Now you know I sing, know my sign, know my drink
Size me up in a matter of minutes
Did you mean to double tap
That spring break throwback from 2016 in PCB”

I mean, I think we’ve probably all been on both sides of this situation, unfortunately, if we’re being really honest…

Meg is a super exciting up and comer to keep on your radar this year, and her current single at country radio, the fan-favorite “Tennessee Orange” is having a pretty quick climb up the charts, and has already been certified Gold:

Suffice to say, her very first #1 could be in the near future, and I can’t wait to hear everything else that’s coming on her debut project sometime this year.

And of course, she nailed all the pretty and pink visuals that go along with “I’m Not Pretty,” so make sure you check it out if you haven’t already and keep your eye on what she has coming next.
