The West Virginia legend is back in the studio working on his third album and I couldn’t be more excited.

A few weeks ago, Charles Wesley Godwin took to social media to let us know the follow up project to his absolutely incredible 2021 How The Mighty Fall album was officially in the works, and now, he’s yet again dangling the carrot in front of our faces.

Of course, since his sophomore album was released there’s been no shortage of unreleased songs he’s put out for us, like “Dance In The Rain”, “West Of Lonesome”, and “Skyline Blues”, but now we’re starting to hear some samples of what this new project might sound with the whole band behind it.

First he put out a 16 second clip of the aforementioned “West Of Lonesome,” which features some beautiful crying steel.

And just today he released another clip, this of a new song titled “Another Leaf,” which sure seems like it’s going to be a barnburner.

Driven by boot stomps, chicken picking acoustic guitar, and some scorching hot fiddle work, if this doesn’t make you wanna grab your partner and start 2 stepping, I don’t know what will.

There’s not much left to say other than I hope this gets released soon…

Because I’m ready.

Check out the full acoustic performance of “Skyline Blues”, recorded right after he wrote it backstage somewhere, from the looks of it.
