Brittany responds…
I kinda feel like I’m stuck in an episode of Desperate Housewives with this country music drama going on right now, but honestly, at every awards show, whether it’s the CMAs or the ACMs, artists love to drop this line:
“It’s so great to be here, country music is one big family…”
And it’s not exactly true
There’s plenty of people in the industry that don’t get along, don’t care for each other, or just don’t talk at all… let’s drop the charade, eh?
Exhibit A: Maren Morris and The Aldeans.
Yesterday, Brittany Aldean, the wife of Jason Aldean, posted a video to Instagram of her trying her beauty products, but wrote a caption that read:
“I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life”
Jason responded to the post by saying:
“Lmao!! I’m glad they didn’t too, cause you and I wouldn’t have worked out.”
However, Cassadee Pope wasn’t too fond of the post, calling Brittany out on Twitter, and implying that she was being transphobic:
“You’d think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging.
But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their ‘tomboy phase’ to someone wanting to transition. Real nice.”
Maren Morris chimed in as well with the “Insurrection Barbie” comment:
“It’s so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ons and zip it, insurrection Barbie.”
However, it didn’t end there.
Brittany responded to Cassadee and Maren’s comments on her Instagram story, and even tagged Maren as well, saying:
“Karen Morris, thanks for calling me Barbie”
Maren also shared a video on her Instagram story encouraging people to check on their LGBTQ fans:
Ya’ll have been so sweet and supportive today of me and Cassadee, we can handle this shit, we’ve dealt with idiots for years… I would say check on your trans friends, check on your gay friends…”
