Okay, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, as the Eastern Kentucky native is still, for the most part, enjoying time off the road. Save for a few shows here and there, a couple festivals, and a Red Rocks two-fer coming up, the man has largely been out of the spotlight anticipating the arrival of his firstborn child.
But, during the shows he has performed this year, we’ve heard a ton of new stuff, and quite a few covers work their way into the regular rotation.
The song itself is a cover from Anderson’s debut self-titled studio album back in 1980.
Now, there’s one thing for certain about Childers, and it’s that he can take a cover and practically turn the song into his own unique version, while still paying tribute to the legend who originally sang the song, and that’s exactly what we get here, as he slowed it down and added a gorgeous fiddle.
