Psychologist Warns That Playing Christmas Music Too Early Is Actually Bad For Your Health

Christmas music vacation

STOP IT.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s not even Halloween yet.

Just because it gets a little colder and the leaves start changing color does NOT mean it’s time to start playing Christmas music.

In fact, according to a study from clinical psychologist Linda Blair, it’s actually bad for mental health:

Blair says the constant onslaught of Christmas tunes too early in the season makes people think about all the things they have to do to get ready for the holidays. Buying presents, organizing parties, booking travel, playing Christmas music too early makes the brain associate with all of the more stressful chores during Christmas.

“You’re simply spending all of your energy trying not to hear what you’re hearing.”

And what’s worse? They play the same damn songs over and over and over and over…

She adds that hearing the same songs over and over each day make workers struggle to “tune it out” and they become “unable to focus on anything else.”

“Christmas music is likely to irritate people if it’s played too loudly and too early.”

And we all know what stress does to your physical health… I think it’s pretty safe to say that playing Christmas music in October is detrimental to the health of society and should be banned outright. In fact, I propose a class action lawsuit on any company that plays it.

Here’s a look at the retail psychos that start playing Christmas music in their stores as early as October.

Best Buy is leading the pack, hitting you with the in-store Christmas music as early as October 22nd, while one store in England put their Christmas shit out in July. JULY!

Seriously though, who the hell wants to hear about dashing through the snow before it’s even Halloween?

Christmas music kind of sucks for the most part and starting it early is now being PROVEN, scientifically, to piss people off, so how about no? Don’t do it. I’m still going to buy that big ass TV Best Buy, I don’t need Santa’s ass bugging me while I do it.

Christmas music should never ever begin before December and should promptly be stopped the next Monday after Christmas ends. Not when the snow melts, not when you take your Christmas lights down sometime in February… you have the rest of the week after Christmas Day and that’s it.

This year, we’re looking at December 26th… deal with it.

I support this 100%
