‘Marfa Tapes’ Trio Performs “Waxahachie,” “In His Arms” And More

I’m telling y’all, I cannot get enough of The Marfa Tapes record.

Every time I listen I find myself choosing new tracks I proclaim as my favorite.

Until I listen again and find another one.

To say it’s an absolutely stellar project would be an understatement.

Unfortunately Miranda Lambert has hinted that the group will most likely not be going on tour in support of this album, but I can only imagine how incredible it would be to hear them sings these songs live.

Well luckily we’re still getting a little taste of that, because Miranda, Jack and Jon recently sat down together to perform a few songs for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts series.

The series, which presents performances in a stripped-down, raw format, was previously recorded in the intimate NPR studios in Washington, D.C. But since COVID started, they’ve moved the studio to the artists’ homes, or studios in cities all over the country.

For this one, the trio started off with what’s become one of my top songs of the year, “Waxahachie”, and also performed the incredible “Tin Man” and “In His Arms.”

If you want to start your week off right, take a few minutes out of your day to watch this:

And while we’re at it, Brothers Osborne also made a recent appearance on the series that’s well worth checking out.
