Maren Morris Sounds Off On Morgan Wallen: “We Keep Them Rich & Protected At All Costs”

By now you’ve probably heard the news that Morgan Wallen was filmed yelling the n-word while causing a ruckus outside of his house over the weekend.

It’s reprehensible and indefensible (although many will still try), and while Morgan did issue an apology to TMZ, we’ve been hearing Morgan apologize for his behavior over and over again this year.

The consequences (if any) that Morgan will suffer for his actions remain to be seen, but it starts to ask the bigger question: Is this an isolated incident or endemic of a larger problem that country music is facing.

While most would be quick to say that one man’s behavior doesn’t represent an entire industry (no matter how successful their most recent album was), Maren Morris says the opposite. It IS representative…

“It actually IS representative of our town because this isn’t his first “scuffle” and he just demolished a huge streaming record last month regardless.

We all know it wasn’t his first time using that word. We keep them rich and protected at all costs with no recourse.”

Kelleigh Bannen shared a similar thought:

Maren also pointed out, along with Kelsea Ballerini, that a female artist would be dropped in a heartbeat if they carried on like this.

Here’s the video of the incident:
