Yellowstone’s Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler) Recreates Iconic Beth Dutton Water Trough Scene

One of the most iconic, poignant, and heartbreaking, scenes in all of Yellowstone… Beth in the trough.

Still struggling with the death of her mother, Beth hops in the trough with a bottle of champagne in her hand on the anniversary of her death. Ultimately, Rip convinces her to come back in the house, but the scene paints a powerful picture of the lasting effects of childhood trauma.

And now, Cole Hauser (who plays Rip Wheeler), has taken the opportunity to recreate the scene for People’s Sexiest Man issue.

For Cole, it wasn’t the first time he bathed in a trough either:

“I did a trip with a few buddies of mine in Costa Rica and we actually never went inside and had a proper shower. I’m pretty accustomed to it. It’s refreshing and especially if the water temperature is right, it’s just beautiful.”

And Yellowstone also isn’t Cole’s first experience riding horses. He grew up in Northern California and on a ranch in Oregon.

“My mom would ring the dinner bell and the horse that I used to have, Cinnamon, he’d come up and drop his head and I’d just slide down his mane and ride into the house. So I’ve always been outdoors.”

Season 4, which Paramount Network has revealed might end up in more of a long-form format has already wrapped filming, but in the meantime, you can check out more Rip and Beth videos with Rip’s “Fierce Loyalty,” Rip and Beth’s love story set to Tyler Childers’ “Lady May,” and “10 Times Beth Dutton Was The Ultimate Badass.”
