Just that kind of season for RCR.
It’s been a tough year in the NASCAR Cup Series for both the #3 car of Austin Dillon and the #8 car of Kyle Busch over at Richard Childress Racing.
Dillon currently sits 15th in points after getting eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, while Busch is a miserable 22nd in points.
The team hasn’t had great speed all season, but it seems like Busch especially has had even worse luck, like a couple of weeks ago when he was caught up in a wreck on lap 1 of the Southern 500 at Darlington, or when he hit the wall during the first lap at the Charlotte Roval and ended his day before it even started.
But just when you think things can’t get any worse for RCR, now their hauler is even getting caught up in accidents at the track.
Video posted to social media shows that the hauler for the #3 car of Austin Dillon apparently took out a large gate outside of Talladega Superspeedway, where the Cup Series will be racing this weekend.
And obviously Austin is an easy target for NASCAR fans. He’s the grandson of Childress, and because his performance has never really lived up to expectations, there are always people quick to accuse him of only having the ride because of his grandpa or being a “silver spoon” kid.
Then there was also his race at Richmond last year, where Dillon pulled off the win by wrecking both Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano on the final lap, resulting in a penalty from NASCAR that ultimately kept him out of the playoffs.
And of course there are just some boneheaded moves on the track…
So naturally, when NASCAR fans saw that his hauler had plowed through a metal gate, of course there were plenty of people who had jokes:

The incident also comes less than a week after Austin’s brother, Ty Dillon, was involved in a controversial incident during the race at Las Vegas while running off the pace and entering pit road, with playoff driver William Byron slamming into the back of him and ending both of their days.
The wreck resulted in Ty Dillon’s spotter being fired ahead of this week’s race – and plenty of jokes after his brother’s hauler crashed:

Tough week for the Dillon brothers. Hopefully things go better during the race.
The Cup Series will be on track this weekend for the YellaWood 500, with the green flag scheduled for 2:00 eastern/1:00 central on Sunday, October 19.
