Elle King Brings Out Ashley McBryde For Surprise Performance Of “Long Haired Country Boy” At The Ryman

Ashley McBryde and Elle King… the duo I never knew I needed.

You might recognize Elle’s name from her feature on Dierk’s Bentley’s 2016 hit “Different for Girls,” or her recent duet with Miranda Lambert on “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)”.

She was on hand at the Ryman Auditorium last night, and she brought out her friend Ashley for a song during her set… and Miranda and Dierks also popped up for planned appearances themselves.

Ashley’s appearance was a total surprise to the audience, and to Ashley from what I can tell, who had no idea she would be getting up on stage to sing. You can tell she looks pretty casual, like she was there to have a few drinks and enjoy the show, but once she hit the stage, she gave it everything she had.

She jumped right in at certain parts of the song, after Elle brought her out, saying:

“Come on out. I just haven’t seen you in so long and I heard you were here. You know this song… you look good. You look good, girl.

I’ll tell you what, she’s can help me sing this. She didn’t know about this.”

They sang Charlie Daniels Band’s “Long Haired Country Boy”. The song was originally released on their 1974 album Fire on the Mountain, peaking at #27 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks after it was re-released in 1980.

Honestly, the performance looks more like a girls night out karaoke session because of that fact that Ashley just had to get up there and wing it, but I’m here for it:

She also brought Miranda out to sing their duet:

Lastly, she debuted a new song with Dierks called “Worth a Shot”:
