If Katy Perry’s Blue Origin Space Mission Wasn’t The Death Of Her Career, Her Tour Will Be: “What Did I Just See”

Katy Perry concert

Just when I thought it couldn’t get worse for Katy Perry…it does.

Katy Perry has not been able to catch a break since taking her “revolutionary” trip to space with Blue Origin. Led by Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, Perry was one of six women in total who went up in the spacecraft for an 11-minute mission, and the consequentially important goal of this “space mission” was… testing new space suits that are more flattering to women.

After the mission was complete, social media took off roasting these women for acting like this short trip was revolutionary. While the mission as a whole has been receiving a lot of hate, Katy Perry has faced the most backlash after kissing the ground upon their return from space.

Given that NASA had astronauts stuck in space for 9 months, the public felt that Perry’s display of gratitude upon returning to Earth was tone deaf, and she quickly became a walking meme. Giant corporations began poking fun at her like Wendy’s, and Joe Rogan most recently mocked her for her “very profound” mission.

However, Perry is not helping herself by being highly offended with anyone taking issue with her mission, firing back, which is only adding fuel to the fire against her. Will I ever go to space? Probably not. Does it take a kind of bravery to complete a space mission of any kind? Yes. Nobody is dogging her going to space… they’re dogging her self-importance of it. Space tourism, funded by one of the richest men in the entire world, isn’t groundbreaking… it’s just fun. Insanely rich people doing insanely rich people things… stop acting like you’re saving the world.

While the Blue Origin mission put a stain on Perry’s career, many thought the tour she embarked on right after would get her back on track, showing the world the pop star she truly is. However, it appears it’s done just the opposite.

During a recent show, according to the Daily Mail, Katy had more to say about her space mission, and what she said could be interpreted as her addressing the haters of this whole space trip, asking the crowd:

“Has anyone ever called your dreams crazy?”

She also took a selfie with some of her backup dancers wearing blue NASA jumpsuits, so it appears that she’s going to make this a permanent part of her tour.

While that’s a rocky start to begin with, things continued to get worse as some of her show’s choreography went viral.

Wearing a cone bra and underwear costume that appears to be made out of a circuit board, Perry delivers chaotic choreography during the bridge of “Part of Me.” I will fully admit that I thought she was improving until I saw her backup dancers doing the same moves. After delivering some soppy dance moves, Perry then jumps in the air and does a “death drop,” a common move done by drag queens, before singing a line or two on the ground, then getting back up to finish the song.

The whole moment is very odd and quickly went viral on social media, leaving fans confused by what they just watched.

It’s something…

While Katy Perry has always been camp with her art, this whole performance is just odd, and the general public agrees. I think Katy Perry needs to rethink some of her tour choreography to turn things around before her entire career is in jeopardy.
