Gone for 11 minutes but acting like it was an eternity.
This morning, six women took a Blue Origin rocket into outer space for an 11-minute space flight.
Going into outer space is a stretch because Blue Origin takes you to the edge of space, but this trip did not go to any space stations. Blue Origin takes passengers to the Kármán line, the 62-mile (100 km) altitude considered the boundary of space. However, Blue Origin’s New Shepard are not ships that orbit Earth like the traditional NASA rocket launches we see.

At 9:30 am, the rocket took off, and the flight was a complete success.

While going to space and exiting the atmosphere leaves room for failure, no matter the circumstances, given that some NASA astronauts were just stranded in space, some social media users thought her reaction to being back on land was a little dramatic.
Exiting the rocket capsule, Perry promptly kissed the ground, showing gratitude that they were back on Earth safely.

If these had been NASA’s astronauts who had been stuck in space for nine months, this reaction would have been more than warranted, but social media was shocked to see Perry do this after the quick trip.
Don’t get me wrong, you can be thankful that everything went well, but I highly doubt they would send these women on a mission with a low success rate. Shortly after they landed, social media began having a heyday with this moment, not only trolling her for acting like she was stranded in space for a significant amount of time, but also trolling her for how quick the trip to space was.
Given that Gayle King said that Katy Perry was singing while in space, it does not seem like much went wrong during their trip, adding to the confusion of this over-the-top reaction.
