Chris Pratt’s ‘Terminal List’ Universe Expands with ‘Savage Son’ Spinoff

Pratt Terminal List

The universe of The Terminal List continues to expand. This time, another spinoff has been announced – called Savage Son – that’s set to focus on Chris Pratt’s James Reece character.

You’d be hard pressed to find a current series that brings more action and heart than The Terminal List. The Prime Video series just released it’s highly anticipated second season a couple of weeks ago (after fans waited four years between seasons), and the minds behind hit show starring Pratt and Taylor Kitsch didn’t wait long to announce that they’ve got even more story to tell.

Amazon’s streaming service has ordered a spinoff titled Savage Son, which will focus on Pratt’s James Reece and will be based on the Jack Carr book of the same name. Savage Son is actually the third book of the series that follows Reece, a former NAVY Seal. It’s important to note that the novel the ordered series is based on does include already established characters from The Terminal List.

So it’s possible that Savage Son could act as the series’ third season… but for now, it’s being announced as a spinoff (and no writer or showrunner has been attached as of yet).

Here’s the forthcoming series’ logline:

“Savage Son is a gripping blend of military action, espionage, and wilderness survival, exploring the thin line between civilization and the savage instincts that emerge when survival becomes personal.”

With Chris Pratt at the helm, and that premise, I’d say Savage Son is going to be a must watch.

The new spinoff is apparently set to follow the 2023 prequel Dark Wolf in The Terminal List franchise. You might remember that series followed Taylor Kitsch’s fan favorite character Ben Edwards. The show has had a knack for bringing the different characters from Jack Carr’s novels to life, and then maximizing the storytelling with character-focused spinoffs.

That’s what fans will certainly expect with Savage Son, and Peter Friedlander – head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios – is very excited that Pratt and his Terminal List story will continue with this upcoming spinoff:

“Jack Carr’s work has connected with audiences in a way that speaks to the power of his storytelling and the incredible dedication Chris Pratt and the entire team bring to every episode. The Terminal List franchise continues to resonate, and Savage Son takes the story into its most intense chapter yet.”

The series will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC, and Civic Center Media.

As to when fans can expect the new series to premiere, it could be a while. After all, they just ordered the spinoff. And there are still plenty of questions surrounding the Chris Pratt-led series, like if other characters from The Terminal List will appear, or if Savage Son will act as a stand alone season (like Dark Wolf was), or if it could expand into multiple seasons.

Until we hear more news about the spinoff, you catch The Terminal List Season 2 on Prime Video. All eight episodes of the show’s sophomore run are available on the streaming service.
