Lainey Wilson Praises Ella Langley For Her 8 ACM Award Nominations: “She Is Ready To Kick Down Barn Doors”

Girls supporting girls.

The Academy of Country Music Awards are nearing, and the nominees were announced yesterday. While no awards show nominee list will be perfect, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised to see this list of nominees. I was especially pleased to see Ella Langley leading the pack with the most nominations.

Langley leads the pack with an astounding eight nominations, six of which are related to her smash hit duet with Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me.” She is also up for Female Artist of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year.

Ella Langley solidified herself at the table as a young artist after her CMA Award win for “You Look Like You Love Me,” and her ACM Award nominations prove that she’s going to be a top dog among female artists. With her edgy style and vocal versatility, which allows her to sing softer love ballads as well as the gritty rock and roll-inspired track, all paired with her captivating stage presence, she’s a force to be reckoned with. And other artists see that, too.

During a recent press conference, Lainey Wilson spoke out on how proud she is of Langley.

“I see a lot of myself in Ella. We really are great friends, and I’m so, so proud for her. But I could not be more thrilled, could not be more excited to see it happen to a girl that… She just knows who she is.”

Wilson, who won the coveted Entertainer of the Year award at the ACM Awards last year, goes on to say that Langley has the work ethic to go far in this business. She is always ready to get her hands dirty and work as hard as needed to make her name known.

“She shows up, and she rolls her sleeves up, and she is ready to kick down barn doors. You’ve got to have that spirit in this business; if you don’t have that spirit, there’s somebody behind you that’s gonna have that spirit, and they’re gonna knock down the barn door for you. So she’s one of those.

I would not be surprised if she don’t come in there with her broom and start sweeping it up. And I’d be behind her with the little tray, you know? The dust pan!

I saw that this morning and was just like, ‘Let’s go.’ I’m glad to see the community really taking notice in somebody who’s just got it. That’s a good feeling, especially as a female in the business. It’s good to see.”

High praise for the Alabama native.

While I’m not surprised that Lainey Wilson has nothing but kind and caring words for Ella Langley and all her ACM Award nominations, it’s always nice to see women uplifting and supporting fellow women.

Even though Brooks & Dunn once said that kindness is all for show at and leading up to awards shows, and everyone’s competitive side comes out, it seems like Wilson is genuine with her words and admires Langley’s nose-to-the-grindstone mentality. Wilson knows that mindset all too well as she first moved to Nashville, living out of a camper in her friend’s yard.

I’m very excited to see both Langley and Wilson, who was announced as performer, in Texas for the ACM Awards on May 8th.
