Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are finally at cruising altitude together – and he’s getting a little cocky about it you ask me.
Obviously, no one wanted to see Rodgers go down with an injury in his first game (first four snaps to be exact) with the Jets in 2023. But lifetime New York fans were the first to tell all of us that a tragic injury like that is the kind of stuff that’s destined to happen to the “same old Jets.”
This time around, Aaron Rodgers has stayed healthy through the first three games of the 2024 season, and they look like a formidable team. The defense might not be as strong as it was last year, but they’re sitting at 2-1 and are coming off a game where they totally dismantled and embarrassed the New England Patriots.
It feels weird saying this… the New York Jets are for real.
Mostly thanks to Aaron Rodgers, who has looked sharp (some might even say like his younger self) in the past two games after getting off to somewhat of a shaky start against the San Francisco 49ers. I’ve seen Rodgers play in person twice in my life, and I’m telling you… he’s the best passer of the football to ever play the game.
He might not be the best quarterback of all time, but in my personal record book, the 40-year-old is the best passer the game has ever seen – and he’s still got it in 2024. Part of that is having confidence in himself and his abilities, which is why I want to give him a pass for what he said to the media.
In sports, it’s helpful to find a good balance between cocky and confident. This quote below comes off as a little bit more cocky, though then again, there’s a lot of power in manifestation (and we all know Rodgers is into that kind of stuff):
“I go back to this quote a lot. Mike McCarthy said, ‘Our biggest struggle is going to be handling success,’ back in 2006 in Green Bay. There’s a lot to that.”
Do you hear that? It’s the sound of millions of tortured New York Jets knocking on wood at the same time.
And Mike McCarthy – who is the current coach of the dumpster fire Dallas Cowboys – might not be the best guy to quote right now. It’s not a sure thing for McCarthy to be the head coach of “America’s Team” at the end of the season.
There’s just no way that saying that out loud will come back to haunt the New York Jets. Longtime “Gang Green” fans know exactly what I’m talking about, and I’m sorry that I even brought it up. Well technically, Aaron Rodgers brought it up…

In regards to their start to the season, A-Rod says he likes to remind the team not to get too high during the highs and too low during the lows.
“I like where we’re at, I like the energy around the facility… I literally said in the locker room, they’re gonna write us off after San Fran, and then we’re gonna win the next two and have the next week and have a mini bye, and then they’re gonna suck us off a little bit. You can’t ride the highs too high, the lows too low… let’s just enjoy where we’re at 3 weeks in.”
