Carly Pearce is gearing up to release a new album, hummingbird, next week…
But her shows might look a little bit different for the time being.
Today, she gave fans an update on something going on in her personal life, sharing a lengthy video on her social media accounts saying that she has been diagnosed with pericarditis, which is a heart issue.
According to the Mayo Clinic, it:
“Is swelling and irritation of the thin, saclike tissue surrounding the heart. This tissue is called the pericardium. Pericarditis often causes sharp chest pain. The chest pain occurs when the irritated layers of the pericardium rub against each other.”
Additionally, it states that the condition can at times go away on its own, and usually is treated with medication.
So yes, Carly will be fine, though she shared in the video that her shows are going to look different as she heals from this, because she has to keep her heart rate down. Now obviously, that can be a difficult thing to do when you’re up on stage running around and performing the way she does, so I imagine she will have to do a lot more standing still, and even sitting, for the foreseeable future.
Of course, fans will still be thrilled to see her in concert and hear all of the new music she’s about to release, though Carly did ask for “a little bit of grace” as she still performs with this condition, noting how important it was for her to still be on the road touring.

“Hey y’all, I have always been transparent and honest about every part of my life, so I feel like this deserves the same honesty. You guys know that I’ve been dealing with some health issues, and through that, I have developed something called pericarditis, which is a heart issue.
And I’ve been working with doctors and talking to my cardiologist, and I still want to be out on the road, it’s really important to me, but we have all decided that it is in my best interest as I’m healing to alter my shows a little bit. So if my shows look a little bit different, just know it’s because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now.
And that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be completely fine, it just means right now I’ve gotta really take this seriously. And so if you’re coming out the shows, if you are gonna be a part of any of the amazing things we have going on with ‘hummingbird,’ it is all gonna be great, it might just look a little different, so I’m asking for a little bit of grace.
And truly more importantly, if any of you are dealing with any kind of health stuff, or aren’t, I’m a young healthy person that really watches what I eat and exercise and this happened to me. And I just want to use my platform to tell you to take care of your body and listen to it.
Just know that if it’s trying to tell you something, it’s going to tell you. I love you guys and I’ll see you soon.”

hummingbird was produced by Carly along with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, marking her debut as a co-producer.
Blending a traditional country sound and honest, authentic lyricism to create a lane that is all her own, Carly is certainly one to watch in the genre and is poised to release one of the best albums of the year with this new project.
So far, she’s released six singles, including “fault line,” “heels over head,” “country music made me do it” and “we don’t fight anymore” featuring Chris Stapleton, “My Place,” and the title track. hummingbird is due out everywhere next Friday, June 7th.
