Carly Pearce Is Perfectly Fine Being The “Good Girl” And Moving On In Sassy New Single, “Heels Over Head”

THIS is the Carly Pearce song I’ve been needing in my life.

Her new tune “Heels Over Head” is out everywhere today, and it’s my favorite thing she’s put out since the release of her 2021 29: Written In Stone album.

It’s a sassy, fun, cheeky (and incredibly sarcastic, which I love) little tune about Carly coming to the realization that the guy she likes doesn’t want to work quite so hard for a good time, so to speak, and would rather just take the “easier” option, if you will…

She admits that she understands why he’ll never really like her, seeing as the other girl he’s been hanging out with doesn’t even “need a couple drinks to let you take her home and tangle up her sheets.”

My favorite line, though, comes when Carly delivers the seething truth that he really “loves the way that she blows your… mind.”

I mean, just brilliant, and of course, the last part of the chorus sums it all up quite well:

“Shе’s good at the things good girls don’t do,
Knows how to wear red and hеr way around a bed,
Bet you’re head over heels,
‘Cause she’s heels over head for you”

I love hearing this side of Carly, which feels like a pretty stark departure from her aforementioned, self-proclaimed “divorce album,” and I hope there’s a lot more like this coming on her forthcoming (unofficially announced) new record.

I think this whole concept is something we ladies can all probably relate to in some way, unfortunately, but the way this was written and the super fun, fiddle-packed production is so damn catchy. Not to mention, the play on words in the title is pretty perfect, too.

At the end of the day, the message is all about standing up for yourself and doing what you think is right and not comprising your principles for some guy, and I’ll always be drawn to a song like that.

Do yourself a favor and give it a listen, you’ll be glad you did. I’m gonna have it on repeat for the foreseeable future:

Carly’s put out two other singles from the album in “We Don’t Fight Anymore” with Chris Stapleton and “Country Music Made Me Do It.”
