“I’ve Been Catching Bass” – Luke Bryan Says Fish Allergy Is Why He Sometimes Looks Like He’s Been Smoking Pot

Luke Bryan wants to clear the smoke air.

There’s been some online discourse that’s alleged Luke Bryan of being a serial pot smoker. What do people have as proof to allege such a thing? Well, his eyes tend to be red, which is a tell-tale sign that someone has partaken in the devil’s lettuce.

He must have heard that country fans thought he was pothead, because he addressed the whole red-eye-situation in a recent interview with Audacy’s Totally Private. As soon as the conversation really got going, Bryan made sure to clarify that he was suffering from allergies because he had been outside.

One specific allergy in particular:

“I took Allegra today… just so we know, if I do interviews and I look like I’ve been smoking pot, that’s not true. I’ve been catching bass. If I touch a bass, my eyes will get red, my hands will swell if I have to take the hook out. I’ll get in front of it. If I’m going to fish today, I’ll take an Allegra in the morning.”

There’s your headline, and make sure you read it carefully. Luke Bryan is allergic to touching bass.

The “Huntin’, Fishin’, And Lovin’ Everyday” singer went on to say in the interview that he’s suffered from his fish allergy since he was a kid, but only later in his life figured out that it was bass specifically that gave him issues:

“My dad would take me on these fishing trips, and I’m in the back of the boat wheezing, maybe in need of an EpiPen. My dad was just like (‘Suck it up,’) so we just thought it was allergies, like the trees, but it’s actually touching the bass.”

So just know from here on out that if you see a video of Luke Bryan with red eyes, he must have just been out fishing. That’s the only logical explanation, and at the very least, a great built in excuse. But I don’t want to recklessly speculate…

He actually mentioned his fish allergy back in 2018, telling The Tennessean, about catching some bluegills to feed to these baby eagles on his property.

That being said, Bryan is an avid fisherman, and has quite the bass fishing haven on his Tennessee farm property. We’re talking about an expertly stocked and maintained lake at his house, and there’s some biggins in there.

It’s big enough to bring a bass boat, and Luke was lucky enough to have the legendary Bill Dance, and bass fishing GOAT Kevin VanDam, out to the lake for a little bass fishing a couple years back:
