Hammocks aren’t for everyone.
Don’t get me wrong, if you can figure them out, hammocks are a great way to relax. It’s just sometimes hard to get to that relaxation stage when you’re battling a combination of gravity and the limitations of your own athleticism.
I’m guessing there will be a lot of people that can relate to the bear cubs in this video. These young Gatlinburg, Tennessee bruins were just trying to have a good time when they discovered a hammock that was hanging up, but found out that getting into one isn’t a walk in the park.
When the footage first starts, it does appear as though one of the cubs had managed to work its way onto the hammock. It was resting rather comfortably until one of their siblings came along and ruined everything (that probably sounds familiar too, doesn’t it?).
After that, it was a complete free-for-all-flip-fest as the bear cubs attempted to climb onto the rope hammock, only to be swung down hard into the ground time and time again. You have to applaud the bear cubs for their sticktuitiveness, but you also have to show some concern since they just kept trying the same thing over and over with no success.
The best part of the clip, without a doubt, is the tandem, in unison wipeout at the very end. Both cubs climb up the hammock like they are doing a synchronized routine, only to come flailing back down to Earth, hitting the ground at the exact same time.
At least they were having fun though:

There’s no scarier feeling than when you know the relaxation device is about to dump you onto the ground at vicious speed. For something that’s advertised as easy living, hammocks really can turn on their users quickly.
Being in a hammock when it flips? Worst day of your life. Watching bear cubs tumble out of a rope hammock? That’s actually rather entertaining, as social media pointed out:
