You gotta catch ’em all.

That’s the only way to fight the wild hog problem that is going on across North America. These wild pigs are taking over and causing BILLIONS of dollars in damage as they do so. These hogs rip and tear their way through every farm, field and forest that they come across and are nearly impossible to get rid of due to how fast they can breed.

The best solution for their population control has been total eradication, but it is easier said than done, and some hunters and farmers have resorted to wild methods to get them under control. We’re talking everything from helicopter hunting with rifles, to the use of explosives.

It’s a never-ending battle to keep these feral hogs under control, however hunting and trapping have seen the best results though. Hunting is hard to get them all, because they are smart and will learn to run away from people easily. Traps have the ability to capture many at one time if built right.

This trap clearly was built for results.

A pen was made with a trap door, bait was set out, and a whole herd of hogs moved in. Watching with a video camera the people wait until most of the hogs are in the trap and drop the door. Chaos ensues as the hogs run around the pen trying to get out. The result? 48 hogs caught at one time… pretty impressive, but it’s only a drop in the bucket.

On to the next 48…
