Get a load of this from abruptly-former UFC fighter Igor Severino: He was disqualified from Saturday’s bout against Andre Lima for biting him and leaving teeth marks in the wake of such a reprehensible act.

UFC president Dana White never minces words and wasn’t about to start that practice in the aftermath of this fight.
White outright fired Severino without a second thought:
That’s a tough break for the upstart 20-year-old Brazilian, who was making his UFC debut and entered with an unblemished 8-0 MMA professional record. And by “tough break” I mean it just kind of sucks for him to be such an idiot for a fleeting moment, as White alluded to.
The mistake was 100% self-inflicted, and may cost Severino his UFC career as he knows it. Hard to imagine there’s a way back to the promotion company unless he really proves himself elsewhere to the point where White couldn’t deny him.
Considering how ridiculous Severino’s bite was, Lima was pretty chill about it when he was holding court with the media. In fact, he didn’t even know that Severino was biting him in the first place when it happened. He thought his arm somehow got caught on the fence flanking the Octagon.
Here’s a funny little anecdote about what White reportedly told Lima once the fight was over.
The natural comparison here will be to Mike Tyson, who infamously bit off a chunk of Evander Holyfield’s ear during their 1997 heavyweight championship bout. Fairly certain this is the first time I’ve seen a bite on a big stage like this in the UFC or MMA in general, however.
Now that we know Lima is more or less OK, I feel like it’s not in the poorest taste to document some of the hilarious reactions coming in about the chomp that will define Severino’s time as a professional fighter until he does something truly exceptional.
