Kelly Clarkson Picks Up The Gauntlet Covering Chris Stapleton’s “White Horse”

The Kelly Clarkson Show

Kelly Clarkson, once again, knocked a cover out of the ballpark.

THIS is how you cover Chris Stapleton. Covering a song from the Kentucky native is no easy task, but Kelly Clarkson took the bull by the horns and came out of the shoot swinging. In a recent Kellyoke segment, Clarkson tackled the fan favorite from Stapleton’s newest album, “White Horse.”

The track requires powerful vocals while maintaining delivery control on the long-winded chorus. Clarkson makes it seem like light work, though. The American Idol alum is known for her booming vocals, which she belts with ease, and that is precisely what she did with this cover.

From the start, she confidently stands at the mic, and after the first line, you know this is going to give Chris Stapleton a run for his money.

I know that Stapleton only features his wife Morgane for female background vocals, but if he ever added some harmonies to a re-recording of the song, I think the obvious choice would be to call in Clarkson. Hearing these two powerhouses on a track together would be truly out of this world.

This comment perfectly sums up how I felt after watching this performance:

“For someone who’s always killing it, Kelly seems to be slaying extra hard lately!”

Keep at it, Kelly. I think I speak for the public, and I believe that a Kellyoke album needs to be a future project.

Fire up Chris’ version after that.
