The King of Philadelphia has retired.
Jason Kelce announced today that after 13 years with the Philadelphia Eagles, he is going to be stepping away from the field and stepping into full-time dad life. Nobody loves the game like Jason Kelce does, and he did not take this decision lightly. From the opening moments of his tearful speech during his press conference, Kelce took a walk down memory lane, sharing some of his favorite career moments. And there are a lot of them when you’re that good of a player and team player.
One constant throughout his career outside of the team is his wife, Kylie Kelce.
Jason met Kylie after the 2014 Eagles Christmas party when he and his friends were at a local bar. While the two matched on Tinder previously, when the two first met, his life would soon be forever changed. If you have listened to the New Heights podcast, you know the story of how he was blacked out.
But as we have seen with Jason’s commitment to cheering on his brother during the Bill game when a Kelce man has his mind set on something, they do it…and he had his mind set on winning Kylie’s heart.
As a couple, Jason and Kyle have captured America’s hearts, as she is strong-minded yet compliments Jason perfectly. During his speech, he, of course, had to note how much Kylie means to him and how some of the best career moments came to him after they met.
Grab the tissues for this one, folks. Hearing Jason get so emotional while speaking so highly of his wife and the mother of his children is beyond moving. You can feel how deeply he loves this woman in his words alone.

I think it’s no coincidence I have enjoyed my best years of my career with Kylie by my side. Every accolade I have ever received has come with her in my life. She has brought the best out of me through love, devotion, support, honesty, intelligence, and of course, a swift kick in the *** from time to time.
She has also given me 3 beautiful girls and a life that increasingly brings me more fulfillment off the field than it does on…we’ve had a great run Ky.”
