Good Lord…
This isn’t a deer, this is the largest animal to roam North America we are talking about here. Bison can weigh well over 2,000 pounds, making them the largest animals by a lot.
These beasts often leisurely wander along grazing with their large herd. All they eat is plants, so bison tend to avoid conflict if needed but because of their size they certainly don’t shy away from anything.
People don’t get it though. They think it’s a big loveable creature because they are in Yellowstone National Park and don’t realize that this beast uses its size as defense, and it will run you over.
Now, as much as I want people to learn their lesson and just let the wildlife be, I really don’t want to see anyone get hurt. It just seems to be that is what needs to happen for people to truly understand the risks they are taking getting so close to these massive animals.
This photo coming out of Yellowstone shows a tourist completely pinned down to the ground by a bison that he got to close to.
The post summed it up, thankfully with the man being okay.
“This is what happens when you get too close to a bison!
The guy is okay, just got a few bruises. Mostly a bruised ego.”
I’m sure he learned a lesson on this one…

Why? Just tell me why…
There are enough videos floating around of bison, elk and bear encounters gone wrong at national parks. And it never ceases to amaze me that these people think these beasts are friendly.
This isn’t a petting zoo, that bison won’t think twice about running you right over… or worse, running a horn right through you.
The people filming this video are clearly aware of what is about to occur. Their camera is on and the woman is even narrating the events unfolding.
And the commentary is FANTASTIC:
“We’ve run into a Bison here and these stupid girls are approaching it”
Well, that about sums it up…
But it does get better. The woman who clearly knows her stuff, hits us with some cold hard facts.
“Ahh, Bison can run up to 30 miles per hour and gore you to death”
True story..
She continues on to say what we all are thinking.
“Smart, smart folks. I can’t believe we let some people into National Parks, any-who..”
The woman, clearly should have some popcorn because she might as well be watching a movie. She is going to let these people figure it out the hard way.
And that lesson is served pretty quickly.
The bison doesn’t like how close the Tourons are and takes a good run at them sending them fleeing for their lives.
The woman pretty sarcastically sums it up.
“Oh yeah, there ya go. That’s generally about the general level of intelligence we run across here.”
The people scatter and run for the hills… as they should. The bison carries on in just another day in the life of a wild animal in a national park.
Bison Charges Entire Family At Yellowstone National Park
It is really non-stop.
Time after time, just incredibly stupid bison charge videos. It’s really surprisingly few people who actually get hurt in the videos, however when they do, it’s never good.
So once again for the people in the back, these are not cows, they’re not friendly, and they will run you over without a second thought.
The video starts with an entire family walking directly towards a bison that is standing next to a boardwalk.
Although there are many stupid people way to close, this family is the king of them all as they decide to walk straight to this bison. They walk within a few feet of it and all start taking cellphone pictures. It’s not worth the pic for the ‘Gram…
The man video taping this wild event from afar sums up what we are all thinking perfectly.
“See him gesturing? See his head movements? Saying I will get you, I will get you.”
The bison continues to give them fair warning it is not happy. The crowd start to realize and disperse. Four people stay put and quickly learn what the bison was communicating.
One man starts to run away a bit from the increasing angry animal and everything starts to run including the bison.
Most of their family makes it to higher ground. The bison stays on the tail of one of the smallest people there. The boy uses the bushes to help get away as he gets chased in a circle with everyone shouting for him to run.
He makes it away safe and everyone in the area realizes they need to take a good 10-steps back.
And perhaps the craziest part? The man who seems to be his father is laughing the whole time…
Ain’t nothing funny about that, dad. Other than how stupid you are.
The kid got lucky…
Brown Bears Have Vicious Battle Over Whale Carcass Off Coast Of Alaska
I just got back from the lovely state of Montana, and while I didn’t run into any bears while I was there (probably a good thing), you get a first hand account of the vast, incredible, and humbling beauty this country has to offer.
And while Montana is amazing it gets no more vast, incredible and humbling than Alaska.
In this incredible footage at the Katmai Coast of Southern Alaska, we get to watch as two coastal brown bears engage in a vicious fight over a beached whale carcass.
A whale carcass beached on the Alaskan coast prompted several dramatic fights between scavenging bears over the newfound bounty.
The scene was caught on camera at the Katmai coast in southern Alaska, in August 2015, as a massive male attacked a smaller female with a cub at the carcass, briefly gaining the upper hand until a different male attacks, saving the female.
And we have a front row seat.
Woman Trips Running From Charging Bison And Narrowly Misses Getting Ran Over
It’s open season on idiots at Yellowstone these days.
We saw a 9-year-old girl get air mailed (she was fine though) after her parents got too close (way to go dad), and even more recently, we saw an elderly lady get gored at Yellowstone after she tried to pet a bison, yes PET A BISON. It should go without saying, but don’t try and put a bison people…
Anyways… now we have another lady who barely escaped, in fact… tripping over her own feet might’ve saved her life.
A unnamed woman was recently touring Yellowstone National Park and found herself running for her life when she got too close to a charging bison. She tripped, fell flat on her face, and then played dead. The charging bison pumped the brakes right before running her clean over.
According to KBZK, the woman was a “Montana local” and knew that she should “play dead,” but I have to ask… if you know to “play dead” when a bison tries to smash you like a bug, then how come you don’t know to stay the hell away from them?
Like, ya know?
I mean, here’s the bison warning from Yellowstone right now…
Basically, keep your distance from moose, stay WAY the hell away from bears, and Bison? Don’t even think about it…
And yet somehow, we have a new story every day with some bozo wandering right up to the herd to get a pic for the ‘Gram.

Bison Sends Guy Flying Into Tree At Yellowstone National Park
Turns out tourists not knowing boundaries with wild animals isn’t a new phenomenon.
I had thought that back in the day people would be more aware of the dangers when they weren’t bombarded by hundreds of viral videos where they look so cute and pettable.
But alas, I stumbled upon a clip that looks like it was shot on one of those home video cameras your aunt taped Christmas of 2001 on that shows people were still trying to get ridiculously close to the giant beasts of the American West… the bison.
A date on the video shows 1992, but regardless of when exactly the event occurred, it went down just like the more recent one’s we’ve seen did.
Apparently, it’s a story as old as time:
Bison gets close to an area with some people. People notice bison and say “Wow, that’s so cool! Let’s get closer for a better picture!” Bison doesn’t like the people being there and charges. The bison wins.
In this particular case, the video cuts to the man in Yellowstone National Park, standing very close to a bison with only a tree in between them, presumably trying to hide from the 1500 pound monster, but that shockingly doesn’t work.
The bison sniffs him out, starts kicking up dirt in a clear sign of “If you don’t leave I’ll hurt you”, then charges and absolutely launches the grown man high into the pines.
I mean sends him up there like a Christmas ornament, this guy got tossed.
It just goes to show you… don’t pet the fluffy cows. They will mess you up.
When will people learn…
Wolf Pack Chases Elk At Yellowstone National Park
Another day, another awesome animal encounter at Yellowstone National Park.
You never know what you’re gonna see at Yellowstone, but if you spend enough time there, you’re bound to get a front row seat to nature at its cruelest.
Whether it’s a grizzly chasing down a bull elk, a wolf pack going toe to toe with a bear over a kill, or sometimes even a bison brawl bringing traffic to a complete stop.
This time, a driver stumbled upon members of the Wapiti Lake Wolf Pack, chasing down a cow elk in the Northern Range of the park.
And unfortunately for the elk, she wasn’t fast enough…
“The wapiti lake wolf pack is made up of 20 wolves. At last light I witnessed 7 wolves chase a cow elk across the road and eventually kill the elk 50 yards off the road.
This occurred in the northern range of Yellowstone National Park.”
I can honestly say the show Yellowstone has peaked my interest in the park, but when you actually dive into some of the incredible footage from parkgoers, you’re gonna wanna book you trip ASAP.
Small Child Saved From Being Gored By A Charging Bison
Another avoidable tragedy is coming out of Yellowstone National Park this morning.
You may remember the horrible story of a 25-year-old woman who was fatally gored and thrown 10 feet in the air when she got to close to a bison earlier this month.
Now it seems a 34-year-old Colorado man barely escaped the same fate.
We showed you the wild video yesterday (watch here), and it’s just stupidity at its finest. But as it turns out, the man actually was injured from the incident and sent to a nearby hospital.
According to MSN, the man and his family were walking on a boardwalk near Giant Geyser on Monday when a bull perceived them as a threat and charged. While the first attempt missed, the family remained in the area (smart…) and eventually the bison charged again.
Two of the adults fled, leaving a helpless small child behind. A third man grabbed the kid from harm’s way (potentially saving the kid’s life), but took a horn to the arm in the process.
He was sent to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for care and treatment. No word is out on his condition yet.
Add this to the catastrophic flooding experienced in the region and it’s been quite the storm of bad luck in the park for a while now.
Listen, I get wanting to stay around and see as many awesome sights as you can, hell Yellowstone National Park has been on my bucket list for years, but if a freaking bison is getting even relatively near me, let alone my family, I’m getting the HELL out of there.
How many of these stories do we need to hear?
Stay away from the bison, people.
