Austin Residents Fear Serial Killer Is On The Loose As 10th Body Pulled From Lady Bird Lake

Things are getting weird down in Austin and it’s not just because of the hippy art scene.

According to KXAN, a body was found in Lady Bird Lake on February 5th, which is located in downtown Austin. This marks the 10th body found in and around the lake since July of 2022, most of which have been men aged 20 to 40, but this most recent body was a yet unidentified female.

Naturally, the community is scared by this rash of bodies and theories of a serial killer on the loose have been reamplified after yet another tragedy was discovered.

One user on a private Facebook group titled Lady Bird Lake Serial Killer – True Crime said:

“I was 100% sure Austin had a serial killer last time they found a body. I’m about 125% sure now.”

While a string of deaths, especially when most are in a select demographic, will naturally raise public outcries, local authorities say there is no evidence to back up the claims that a serial killer is walking among the population.

Austin Police Department Assistant Chief Jeff Greenwalt made the following statement back in April, when the 8th body in the timeframe was found.

“There are a lot of allegations that there’s a serial killer, but there’s no proof or evidence in any of our investigations to sustain that…

one common theme of the drownings in Austin… is the combination of alcohol and easy access to Lady Bird Lake.”

After investigations, foul play was not suspected in most of the cases. Most were ruled accidental drownings while one back in December 2022 resulted in murder charges.

Still, it’s easy to see why the Texas Capitol would be wary about this rash of deaths.

We’ll keep you updated if anything else comes of this latest finding, but if you’re in Austin, do me a favor and stay away from the lake at night. It just doesn’t seem worth it.
